RESIDENCE HALL SAFETY
- Do not allow strangers to enter the building with you. If an unauthorized person pushes past you or follows you or anyone else in the door, immediately inform a Housing staff member or University police at 410-704-4444.
- For the safety of ALL residents, do not prop open any exterior residence hall door.
- Always keep your dorm room doors locked, even when you are inside.
- Refrain from posting notes on your door informing others that no one is in the room.
- Do not let unfamiliar people into your room.
- Do not leave valuables like your wallet, checkbook, or jewelry, in open view.
- Register valuables in TUPD’s FREE Personal Property Registration Database here. Items may be registered any time.
- Engrave or mark property with a unique number or symbol so that it can be identified as yours later. Contact TUPD’s Community Policing Unit at 410-704-5622 to schedule engraving.
- Do not loan your keys to anyone.
- Do not mark your key chain with your name or address. Lost keys can lead to theft.
- If you lose your key, report it to the on duty RA immediately.
- If you lose your University identification, report it to Auxiliary Services or TUPD immediately
- Be a good neighbor; look out for suspicious activities or people in the residence halls and report them to the on duty RA or contact TUPD.
- Try to avoid entering an elevator alone with a stranger. Stand near the control panel and note the location of the emergency alarm button. If attacked, hit the alarm button and as many floor buttons as you can.
- When leaving the hall at night, tell your roommate when he/she should expect your return.
