Have a passion for helping kids? Join the America Counts team! The Department of Mathematics and the Office of Civic Engagement & Social Responsibility are seeking Federal Work- Study students and volunteers to help Baltimore City Middle School students gain math skills.
What will you do?
- Work one on one with Baltimore City middle school students to help them improve their number sense and math skills
- Use schoolwork and math games to help students understand various math concepts
- Be a role model as you build relationships with students
- Foster a student’s’ love and appreciation for math
- Inspire students to want to go to college!
What do you need?
- To be committed to the work and the students
- Dedicate 1-20 hours of tutoring per week for the entire semester
- Attend the Mandatory orientation and training
Who can apply?
Anyone!
- Federal Work Study students are paid!
- We also accept volunteers looking to make an impact in the Baltimore community while gaining practical work experience
- All majors and skillsets are welcome—you do not need to be a math whiz!
