Are you interested in becoming a teacher, but didn’t pursue an undergraduate degree in Education? The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program may be for you!
The MAT program leads to eligibility for initial teacher certification in the state of Maryland in a variety of concentration areas. There is a One-Year option available for Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary concentration areas.
In the One-Year option students complete the MAT degree and certification requirements in four semesters: summer, fall, minimester and spring. This option begins in the summer semester when courses are taken in the mornings and afternoons. During the fall, minimester and spring semesters, students have program requirements throughout the day and some evenings.
The deadline for application to the One-Year option is April 1, 2017. Space and content prerequisite limitations apply. Special Education is not available in the One-Year option, but an accelerated program is available beginning in spring 2018.
