Brand Mark Mastery: The tigers in our tank

Everyone loves the Tiger logo, which is understandable — it is super cool. But the Tiger logo is, in fact, the Athletics Brand Mark, which means that not everyone is eligible to use it.

  • The primary purpose of the athletics brand mark is to serve university athletics.
  • With the exception of intramural sport clubs, non-athletic department departments or groups may not use any Tiger brand marks to identify themselves.
  • Non-athletics groups wishing to use a tiger graphic should look to the Doc cartoon.
  • Doc is spirited and sporty, but he is also incredibly versatile — has been known to be an adept chef, construction worker, telephone operator and accountant! Online Doc guidelines have been created for customizing Doc to meet your needs, and Creative Services is happy to talk with you about customizing Doc to work for your needs.

If you have questions about using the Tiger brand mark, please check with Creative Services. Adhering to the brand mark standards is the responsibility of anyone who uses any university logos. Keep checking T3 for periodic ‘Brand Mark Mastery’ tips throughout the year.
