Newell and Starbucks closed until January; hours extended at LA Café and Au Bon Pain

The Newell Dining facility, including both the Den and the upstairs dining hall, will be closed until January 2017 for renovations that include a new roof and windows and updated dining rooms and bathrooms.

When the building reopens, the upstairs dining hall will have a full-service bakery, a retail deli serving premium quality meats with late night hours, and expanded action stations serving additional made-to-order food options.

The Den will be updated with a new made-to-order salad and soup area.

The Cook Library Starbucks will be closed until October for renovations that will double the cafe’s size, expand its food menu, and provide more customer seating.

During the renovation, fresh continental breakfasts will be available every weekday in Newell, Richmond, Prettyman and Scarborough Halls, enabling building residents to grab a coffee, fruit and pastry before heading to class. Au Bon Pain will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays during the fall term, with an additional register and espresso station to better accommodate students living on the York Road side of campus. The LA Café will also have expanded hours, serving breakfast, upscale sandwiches, soups, baked goods, sushi and Starbucks Coffee from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. For faster service, students are encouraged to download and use the Tapingo App for food orders at Au Bon Pain.
