Spring break shut down instructions

Spring break is the perfect time to SAVE ENERGY! The university spends $9 million on energy a year- that’s $173,000 per week! We will be adjusting temperature setpoints in closed buildings to reduce energy use over the spring break. Please help us by doing the following before you leave:

SHUT DOWN all copiers, PC computers, monitors and printers. If you plan to use Remote Desktop over the break, you will need to leave your PC on and change the setting for “Put the computer to sleep” to NEVER, under Power Options in Control Panel.

-Unplug cell phones chargers, coffee makers, TVs, stereos and other electrical devices from the wall. Plugged in devices use power even when they are not turned on.
-Turn off the lights.
-Lock doors and windows.
