Benefits Bulletin: Wellness News – Reimbursement for Participating in Weight Loss Program

Did you know eligible* faculty and staff and/or covered dependents can receive a reimbursement of $150 annually for participating in a qualified Weight Loss Program?  It’s not too late to submit your reimbursement for 2015!

Qualifying weight loss programs include all weight loss programs and excludes the cost of food, books, videos, scales, or other items not considered part of the fee for the course or class.  Please visit the state of Maryland employee benefits  website for links to the United Health Care and CareFirst sites!

*Eligible faculty, staff, and covered dependents are those enrolled in the United Health Care or CareFirst health insurance programs.

As you know, the 2015 Wellness Plan healthy activities deadline has been extended to 12/31/15!

Participants must complete these activities for 2015:

  1.   Select a primary care physician (PCP)
  2.   Complete the health risk assessment (HRA)
  3.   Review the results of the HRA with your PCP
  4.   Return the signed physician form to your medical plan

Once the activities are completed, PCP copays will be waived through 12/31/15 and you avoid the premium surcharge in 2016!
