Benefits Bulletin: 2015 Open Enrollment Packets Mailed this Week

Regular and Contingent Faculty and Staff who have an active benefits record in the state of Maryland benefits administration system (BAS) as of August 28, 2015 will receive an open enrollment packet.  All packets will be sent via U.S. mail to the address of record in BAS.

Regular Faculty and Staff

The Open Enrollment packet will contain a summary of your current benefit choices, a 2016 benefits guide, the 2016 wellness plan activities, and instructions for using the interactive voice response system (IVR).  Regular faculty and staff with an active benefits record in BAS as of August 28 must use the IVR to make changes to benefits.

Your benefit elections (except flexible spending accounts) will roll over to 2016.  You do not have to take action unless you want to change benefits, dependents, or enroll in a flexible spending account in 2016.

Contingent Faculty and Staff

The Open Enrollment packet will contain a summary of your current benefit choices, a 2016 benefits guide and enrollment form, and the 2016 wellness plan activities.  Contingent faculty and staff must use the 2016 enrollment form to make changes.

If your contract ends in December 2015, your department must notify the benefits unit of the new contract beginning and ending dates.  Contract renewal information is required so the Employee Benefits Division will generate payment coupons for 2016 benefits.

If your contract is continuing or being renewed, your current benefit elections will roll over to 2016.  You do not have to take action unless you want to change benefits, dependents, or you have a change in the percentage of time worked.

ePackets

Regular and Contingent Faculty and Staff who are not currently enrolled in benefits OR have a benefits record effective date after August 28, 2015 will receive an open enrollment packet via email in mid-October.  Instructions about enrollment method and contract renewal will be included in the ePacket.
