This is the time of the semester when students should be getting started on research assignments and papers. Knowing whether a source is providing credible information for you to use in your paper or project is a critical piece of the process. You would not buy something just because it has the lowest price, right? Nor should just use the easiest source to find. A healthy amount of intellectual skepticism and knowledge of how to use a few research tools will be great assets. Check out Reference and Instruction Librarian Joyce Garczynski’s article for the Thriving Tiger, “How to avoid having the wool pulled over your eyes”. You will be glad that you did! Read it, print it, share it at http://thrivingtiger.wordpress.com .
