Turning a Passion for Learning into a Career – New from the Thriving Tiger

So what happens when you are passionate about a field of study, but everyone seems to be telling you, “oh, you will never get a job with a major in: a) Art History; b) Psychology; c) Philosophy; d) German.”  That is exactly what Stephanie Andrews, Honors College student, Student Academic Advisor, and Art History major encountered.  But Stephanie dealt with the puzzled expressions, the snarky comments, and her own fear. In May she will be graduating with a degree in Art History and, just as important, knowledge that she is a creative thinker and a skilled communicator who knows how to promote herself as an excellent prospective employee.  If you are in a major because you love it, but are wondering how you move on to a career after graduation, read “In the Name of Love: The Liberal Arts” in this week’s Thriving Tiger blog.  Read it, print it, and share it at http://thrivingtiger.wordpress.com .
