As of Monday, the Business Travel Office has moved its forms to an online workflow with electronic routing for approvals. Benefits of the new TigerTravel program include:
- Easy-to-complete forms – the system points out mistakes and helps you fix them before the form is submitted.
- Faster reimbursements – once submitted, the system shows you where your travel form is in the approval process. If there are hold ups, you know who it’s with and can reach out personally. Automated reminders to approvers help speed up the process.
- Electronic signatures – mean there are no papers to get lost.
- Automation of budget checks – help approvers know if travel costs are within their budget.
In addition to the new system, there has been a policy change on mileage reimbursement for business travel. A traveler’s typical commute miles must be deducted from the total miles claimed for their travel. The two exceptions to this policy are if a business trip starts and ends at your work location, or if the business trip starts and/or ends on a non-duty day.
For more information on the new system, go to the Business Travel website or contact their office directly at x4-5421 or travel@towson.edu.
