October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month

web-cybersecurity-wp-304

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance have made October National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). NCSAM was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure that every American has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online. The theme this year is “Our Shared Responsibility” and the campaign slogan is STOP. THINK. CONNECT. when using the internet.

  • Stop – Understand the risks and learn how to identify potential problems.
  • Think – Take time to watch for warning signs and consider your online actions.
  • Connect – Enjoy your internet experience knowing you have taken the appropriate precautions.

Take a moment to view the STOP.THINK.CONNECT. Video inspired by the National Cyber Security Alliance’s STOP. THINK. CONNECT. Campaign. An 8th grade Social Studies teacher created this video with his class to help people to be more mindful of their actions while online.

Keep an eye out all this month for tips in T3 on how to keep yourself and Towson University safe from cyber-attacks.
