Time: 4:45pm to 6:00pm
Place: Writing Center, College of Liberal Arts: LA 5330 for coffee, water, and brownies at 4:45pm, then LA 5316 for the workshop at 5:00pm.
The CLA Writing Center invites you to its first Conversations on Teaching and Writing workshop of the new school year. The internationally-renowned Paint Your Life creative game system takes participants through a sequential and interlocking series of structured and personalized artistic experiences that empower educators to discover their own, often well-hidden, aptitudes. This process offers a radical means for re-imagining education policies and art discourse, including the ways in which the arts can create “border crossings” between artists and non-artists, between school and community, between cultural distances, and between self and “Other.”
Dr. Morna McDermott, Associate Professor in the College of Education at Towson University, will lead this one-hour workshop. A Paint Your Life trained facilitator, Dr. McDermott has been working in the field of education for twenty years with both pre-service teachers and seasoned classroom teachers across the country. This workshop will give participants a taste of the upcoming full-day faculty Paint Your Life workshops, which will be held on four Fridays over the academic year: September 26, December 5, February 10, and March 27, from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Come and experience a taste of what the program has to offer. There is no obligation to participate in the upcoming full-day workshops. Coffee and snacks will be provided.
