It has recently come to our attention that the vision services included as part of your health plan with Aetna, Carefirst Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and United HealthCare have changed. The change affects dependents up to 18 years of age. The changes were not printed in the materials provided to employees during open enrollment but became effective with the new plan year that began on January 1, 2014 as part of the Affordable Care Act. The vision services for those over age 18 remain unchanged, and specifics are listed in the plan booklet.
The new changes affecting those age 18 and younger are detailed on pages 22, 28 and 34 and can be viewed here on TU’s Benefits webpage or by clicking here to view the State of Maryland’s Employee Benefits website. Click on the Benefits Guide under the home page’s Enrollment subdirectory and scroll to the pages listed above.
