Richard E. Vatz (Department of Instructional Leadership and Professional Development) published the lead op-ed piece titled “Gansler’s gaffe: Unwise, but not worthy of an apology” in The Baltimore Sun, August 19, 2013. The article attempts to adjudicate the charge and denial regarding Doug Gansler’s racial intent in saying that Anthony Brown’s desire to be the first African-American governor of Maryland was “laudable” but insufficient as a basis for his candidacy. Vatz also appeared on WBAL’s C-4 show and was interviewed for WMAR’s website on the same issue.
