Software Distribution Upgrade Starting Wednesday, February 26

The Office of Technology Services utilizes Microsoft’s Configuration Manger to distribute software and updates to campus Windows based computers.  OTS will be migrating the campus to an updated environment from Wednesday, February 26, through March 5.  All Windows-based systems will receive the new Configuration Manager client and new antivirus client.

Main items to note about the upgrade:

*   Run Advertised Programs is being replaced by the new Software Center, which is used for faculty and staff to install software on university office computers.  Generally, Software Center contains no programs available to classroom and lab computers since software installations are managed by college or department staff.  Programs can be installed and updated using Software Center by following the instructions <http://www.towson.edu/adminfinance/ots/Training/documentation/Computergeneral/SoftwareCenter.pdf> here.<http://www.towson.edu/adminfinance/ots/Training/documentation/Computergeneral/SoftwareCenter.pdf>
*   Antivirus software will be upgraded.  You can ignore the temporary message about your system not being protected while software is being installed.
*   Mac computers are not affected by this upgrade, all versions of Windows will be affected.
