HR Benefits Fraud Alert

The Office of Human Resources has received the following Fraud Alert:

A state employee has been contacted at home by someone claiming to be from DBM’s Employee Benefits Division.  The caller requested personal information in order to assist the employee with the individual’s benefits enrollment.  Please advise your employees that the Employee Benefits Division is not calling employees or retirees to request information for open enrollment purposes.  If an employee receives such a call, they should not provide personal information to the caller.  The employee may also contact the Attorney General’s Identity Theft Unit at 410-576-6491 or idtheft@oag.state.md.us to report the suspicious call and learn what actions to take if any personal information was provided.
