Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum: Meeting Announcement
Topic: “Collaboration & Social Media: How to Effectively Leverage”
Date: March 21, 2013
Location: Towson University
Please join members of the Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum and invited guests at the March 21, 2013 meeting!
“Marketing is now a fundamental driver of IT purchasing and Gartner predicts by 2017, CMO’s will spend more on IT than their counterpart CIO. Many marketing budgets already eclipse the company’s technology spend as the trend is shifting toward more collaborative and social media strategy tools to drive bottom-line results. Now is the time for CIO’s to forge tight relationships with CMO’s and understand the dynamics behind the major shift of “customers” being in more control of the conversation, the buying decisions, and driving the overall brand experience. (Martin, 2013)
Join Billy Martin from Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM) as he takes you on a journey to understand the latest market trends around social media, social marketing, and enterprise collaboration. He will discuss how Salesforce.com, a 3-Billion dollar B2B – enterprise software company has broken down communication silos both within the company and with their customers leveraging the latest collaboration tools.
Mr. Martin will also share with you how Salesforce.com takes full advantage of “cloud based” marketing tools to first listen, then engage with the customer (or prospect) while turning insight into action. He will highlight examples of successful strategies in collaboration and social media, from large corporations to small, and both B2B and B2C. Finally, he will share some experiences of some “not so successful” attempts to leverage social media in a business setting. Attendees will leave with a solid foundation and actionable strategies to transform their business into a true “Customer Company.” You will learn how to connect with your customers, partners, employees, and products in a whole new way — leveraging collaboration and social media.
In the second half of the meeting, a panel of social media leaders will be led by Neal Guernsey, recently CIO of Feld Entertainment. Other panel members include Tim Talbot, CIO Information Technology, Merkle Inc., Michael Heasley, Marketing & Communications Director of Digital Strategy, Towson University, Jennifer LaFrance, Digital Marketing & Social Media Senior Manager, Consumer Products Division, McCormick & Co., Inc. and Jodi Marsico, Vice President – Advertising, Erickson Living Management, LLC. The panel will share insights on their strategies, challenges and directions regarding collaboration and social media in their respective workplaces.
