Please join members of the Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum and invited guests at the January 17, 2013 meeting!

Cloud computing is having major impacts on business operations and on Information Technology functions. The focus of this meeting is to examine where cloud computing is now, and its effects on business. What specifically has worked? What has not? How has the evolution of cloud computing impacted businesses? IT? Are there emerging best practices, standards, successful roadmaps?

In the first half of the meeting, Doug Bourgeois, Vice President and Chief Cloud Executive for VMware US Public Sector, will present. Doug leads the development and execution of the cloud computing strategy for the US Public Sector. He is an early adopter of cloud computing in the federal government and a leading business and technology strategist with VMware. In this session, Doug will address several critical trends in cloud computing and their effects on IT management. He will discuss the emerging cloud brokering model, including a review of current best practices with case examples in the federal government and in large corporations. He will discuss application portfolio rationalization and its role in efficient IT operations. Doug will also address the subject of best practices in application architecture for the cloud. Doug has significant experience transforming the IT organization to a service provider model and will share additional thoughts and lessons learned during major transformation initiatives.

In the second half of the meeting, Alan Levine, Senior Director for Oracle Consulting’s North America Enterprise Architecture practice will discuss how cloud computing is impacting today’s IT organizations. Alan will look at the impact on IT’s relationship with line business stakeholders, the impacts of “IT as a Service” on traditional IT functions, and strategies for evolving IT service delivery models to keep pace with business demands. Alan will also discuss the impacts of cloud computing on the IT talent pool and highlight relevant skills necessary for successful adoption of cloud computing.

Please join our members at the meeting! This is a full membership meeting of the Forum. The meeting starts at 8:00 AM and ends by 1PM. Brunch and lunch are provided. Pre-registration is required.
