This is a reminder to all staff that there are now nearly 30 new policies and procedures in the Human Resources section of the University Policy Web Site, located at {https://inside.towson.edu/generalcampus/tupolicies/index.cfm}. These policies relate to employment and workplace issues, including but not limited to, hiring, benefits, leave, classification, compensation and termination.
The university policies and procedures provide more specific guidance to ensure business activities are conducted properly and in compliance with USM Board of Regents Policies, and various Federal and State laws. All employees are expected to be familiar with policies relevant to their job duties.
There are a number of significant changes, per the decision of the President?s Council that you need to be aware of. For example, the policy on Hours of Work and Attendance ({https://inside.towson.edu/generalcampus/tupolicies/documents/07-06.10%20Hours%20of%20Work.doc}) requires that all offices on campus be open between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. In addition, the policy on Leave of Absence Without Pay ({https://inside.towson.edu/generalcampus/tupolicies/documents/07-07.12%20HR%20Leave%20of%20Absence%20Without%20Pay.doc}) requires approval by Mr. Phillip Ross, associate vice president for Human Resources, prior to the employee taking leave without pay.
If you have any questions concerning a particular policy, please consult with the ?Contact Person? located at the end of each policy.
