Back By Demand! Towson’s eLearning Center Demonstrations Planned for Wednesday

Due to a great turnout at the first Towson eLearning Center kick-off and numerous requests for a follow-up, the Office of Human Resources is offering two additional demonstrations on Wednesday, July 27 at 1 p.m. and again at 3 p.m. in AD120. Laptops will be available for employees to ?test? and navigate the system. Register for this event at {hrtraining@towson.edu}.

Towson?s eLearning Center (TEC) offers a library containing more than 750 online courses for all Towson staff and faculty. These courses can be taken via the Internet from any computer with Internet access at any time of the day or night. In addition, Towson University?s core competencies focusing on the areas of communication; customer service; diversity; leadership; management and supervision; and financial and technical skills, have been matched to TEC courses, making it easier for employees to concentrate on courses of greatest importance and relevance. These competencies and identified courses for each can be viewed and selected by clicking on the ?TU Competencies? link on the ?Shortcuts? menu bar upon logging into TEC.

Please note that courses are available for both your professional development at work, and also for your personal development. Courses may be taken during the workday with the prior approval of your supervisor. In addition, while courses may be taken for your personal development, it is not appropriate to take these during working hours. Due to the program?s unique design, courses are available with Internet access at any location – including your home.

Certificates of completion will be sent to employees who have successfully completed courses (a comprehensive score of 75% or higher) on a monthly basis. Supervisors will be sent electronic messages indicating the number of completions per employee, but not the specific course titles.
