Open Enrollment Update #1: Announcing Dates and Rates for July 1, 2005-June 30, 2006!

It?s now official! The spring 2005 Open Enrollment (OE) period for all Maryland state insurance benefits will begin on Wednesday, May 25 and will continue until Wednesday, June 15. Please note that the benefits and rates for this OE will be effective for July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006.

OE offers all eligible faculty and staff and retirees, including eligible Direct Pay employees (contingent staff, lecturers and part-time faculty members), the opportunity to examine and evaluate their current coverage and compare with the coverage and costs for the plan year beginning July 1, 2005. Changes can be made during Open Enrollment usually without any special enrollment restrictions (except for term life and Long Term Care insurance). This Open Enrollment is voluntary, therefore no action will be necessary if no changes or corrections are needed unless a regular employee wants to have flexible spending accounts during the new plan year.

Since there are some major changes to the Prescription Drug Plan, employees and retirees are urged to check the new CaremarkPCS Web site at {http://maryland.advancerx.com} to get all the details concerning the new prescription drug coverage. When accessing that site, log in as Maryland@testsite.com with the password: password1.

Other details for this Open Enrollment period, including rates and the new benefits booklet, can be found on the MD Department of Budget and Management?s (DBM) Web site at {http://www.dbm.maryland.gov}; click on the ?Employee Services? tab and then ?Health Benefits and Open Enrollment.”

Open Enrollment materials will be distributed through campus mail to all regular faculty and staff members who are currently enrolled in any of the MD state benefit plans. Direct pay employees who have contract dates on or after July 1, 2005 and retirees who are currently enrolled in any of the MD state plans will receive their Open Enrollment materials at their home address directly from DBM.

Be sure to check Daily Digest for more information about Open Enrollment.
