For faculty planning on teaching online courses or who are interested in learning more about this method of delivery, Office of Technology Services Training is offering several options this summer:
Blackboard Introduction
This workshop, which includes two half-day sessions, will teach you the basics of using Blackboard for developing Web enhancements to a course. Participants will create a course homepage in Blackboard with a syllabus, hyperlinks and a discussion forum. Bring a disk with a syllabus and several class assignments that you would like to post. Prerequisites: Working knowledge of MS Windows and experience using an Internet browser such as Internet Explorer

Teaching Online – An Online Workshop
Spend a week as an online student! Using online discussions and resources we will explore: designing engaging online discussions, engaging learners through effective instructional assignments and developing critical thinking skills online. Plan to expect about one half hour of work per day.

Designing Course Curriculum for Online Delivery
This workshop will provide tools for planning online instruction. Participants in this session with work together to explore techniques to include: identifying instructional goals and supporting objectives, creating assessments (and assignments) to match your objectives, evaluating your course readiness for online instruction and designing interactive instruction.
