Post-Open Enrollment Update #1: Summary Statements and Payroll Deductions

All regular faculty and staff employees who made changes or elections to their MD state benefits during the Open Enrollment (OE) period that ended December 22, 2004 will receive their official Summary Statement of Benefit Elections for Year 2005 via campus mail.

It is extremely important that you carefully review your summary statement as soon as you receive it and compare it with your OE worksheet. Any administrative errors must be noted on a copy of your summary statement and returned to TU?s Office of Human Resources no later than Tuesday, Feb. 1. Forgetting to make a change, wanting to switch plans because of availability of providers or wanting to change the amount of a Flexible Spending Account for 2005 are not administrative errors!

Please note that if your summary statement shows a “~” next to any dependents or an “*” next to your MD State Term Life insurance selection, you must submit the required documentation to TU?s OHR Benefits Unit by Tuesday, Feb. 1.

Regular employees who did not make any changes or elections during OE and Direct Pay employees (contingent staff, lecturers and part-time faculty members) will not receive a summary statement. Those regular employees will have to carefully review their Wednesday, Jan. 12 pay stub to confirm that their MD state benefits are accurate.

Direct Pay employees will receive their new payment coupons by Tuesday, Jan. 18, which should reflect their 2005 coverages. Any Direct Pay employees who have not received their 2005 coupons by January 18 should call the Maryland Department of Budget and Management?s Employee Benefits Division at 410-767-4775, option #2, to check on the status of their coupons.

Please contact Dave Curtis, x46018, {dcurtis@towson.edu}, or Gail Price, x46017, {gprice@towson.edu}, in the TU Benefits Unit with any questions.
