All contingent staff, lecturers and part-time faculty members who are currently enrolled and paying for group insurance benefits with the State of Maryland on a direct pay basis are reminded that those benefits are active only through the end of their current contract period as printed on their coupons. As a service to direct pay enrollees, the Maryland State Department of Budget and Management Employee Benefits Division (DBM EBD) is sending notices to those individuals approximately two months before their benefit ending date (based on the contract dates provided to DBM EBD) reminding them of this requirement.
Direct pay employees who want to continue their current State benefits after the end of their current contract period must have their department head/chair send a brief statement listing their name, Social Security number and new contract dates to either Gail Price or Dave Curtis in Towson University?s Office of Human Resources Benefits Unit via e-mail or through campus mail. If the exact dates of the new contract period are not yet confirmed, the statement should indicate that the department intends to offer a new contract and include the expected dates of the new contract period. That information will then be forwarded to the DBM EBD so that new payment coupons can be produced and sent to the direct pay employee.
Questions should be directed to Dave Curtis, x4-6018 or {dcurtis@towson.edu}, or Gail Price, x4-6017 or {gprice@towson.edu}.
