The spring 2006 Open Enrollment period for all Maryland state insurance benefits will continue through this coming Wednesday, June 14.
OE offers all eligible faculty and staff, including eligible direct pay employees (contingent staff, part-time faculty and lecturers) and retirees, the opportunity to examine and evaluate their current coverage and compare with the coverage and costs for the new plan year: July 1, 2006-June 30, 2007. Changes can be made during Open Enrollment usually without any special enrollment restrictions (except for term life and Long Term Care insurance for family members, direct pay employees and retirees) and will be effective on July 1, 2006. This Open Enrollment is voluntary; therefore no action will be necessary if no changes or corrections are needed unless a regular employee wants to have flexible spending accounts during the new plan year or an employee wants to enroll in the new Long Term Care Insurance plan.
CaremarkPCS Prescription Plan Updates
New ID Cards
All employees and retirees who are enrolled in the CaremarkPCS prescription drug plan for the plan year beginning July 1, 2006 will receive new ID cards at their home address soon after the end of Open Enrollment. These cards will have a new non-social security number member number. If employees/retirees do not receive their new ID cards by July 1, 2006, they can still use their current ID cards until their new one is received. CaremarkPCS will have a cross reference in their system to allow employees and retirees to obtain services using their old cards.
Voluntary Mail Order Co-Payments
Beginning July 1, 2006, co-payments under the Voluntary Mail Order Program will be:
* Generic: $5.00 (1-45 day supply); $10.00 (46-90 day supply)
* Preferred Brand Name: $15.00 (1-45 day supply); $20.00 (46-90 day supply)
* Non-Preferred Brand Name: $20.00 (1-45 day supply); $20.00 (46-90 day supply / maximum co-pay)
The maximum $20 co-pay is only available through the Voluntary Mail Order Program.
Please note however that if members choose to have their prescriptions filled with a Preferred or Non-Preferred brand name drug that has a generic equivalent, they may still pay the difference between the generic brand plus the $20 mail order co-pay. Retail co-pays remain the same at $5.00 for Generic, $15 for Preferred Brand and $25 for Non-Preferred Brand up to a 45 day supply. Two co-pays are required for anything over a 45 day supply.
