Turnitin Service Ending in January

Towson University’s license agreement for Turnitin, a plagiarism detection service will expire at the end of the Fall 2003 semester. The university’s contract with the service provider, iParadigms, will not be renewed due to low usage and increased subscription fees. Based on deliberations with faculty who have used the software and a discussion at a Provost’s Council meeting, the university will no longer accept requests for new accounts to Turnitin and access to existing faculty accounts will terminate on January 12, 2004.

Your Library Liaison will be glad to conduct a session on plagiarism for your students, proper citing for resources, and ways to avoid potential problems. Please feel free to E-mail Sara Nixon at {sara@towson.edu} for a list of Web sites that include resources on plagiarism for faculty and students.
