Post-Open Enrollment Update #1: Summary Statements, Payroll Deductions and Direct Pay Coupons

All regular faculty and staff employees who made changes or elections to their MD state benefits during the Open Enrollment period that ended June 15, 2005 will be receiving their official Summary Statement of Benefit Elections for Year 2006 via campus mail. It is extremely important that you carefully review your summary statement as soon as you receive it and compare it with your OE worksheet. Any administrative errors must be noted on a copy of your summary statement and returned, along with an explanation of the error, to TU?s Office of Human Resources Benefits Unit no later than Friday, July 8. Forgetting to make a change, wanting to switch plans because of availability of providers or wanting to change the amount of a Flexible Spending Account for FY2006 are not considered administrative errors!

Please note that if your summary statement shows a ~ next to any dependents or an * next to your MD State Term Life insurance selection, you must submit the required documentation to TU?s OHR Benefits Unit within 30 days of the date of call listed on the bottom right portion of your summary statement.

Regular employees who did not make any changes or elections during OE and Direct Pay employees (contingent staff, lecturers and part-time faculty members) will not receive a summary statement. Regular 26 pay employees will have to carefully review their July 13, 2005 pay stub to confirm that their MD state benefits are accurate. Direct Pay employees whose new contract dates were sent to OHR before the end of OE should receive their new payment coupons by the end of June that reflect their FY2006 coverages. Any Direct Pay employees who have not received their new coupons by July 1 should call the Maryland Department of Budget and Management?s Employee Benefits Division at 410-767-4775, option #2 to check on the status of their coupons.

Questions or concerns should be directed to Dave Curtis, x46018 dcurtis@towson.edu or Gail Price, x46017 gprice@towson.edu in the TU Benefits Unit.
