The Chronicle Great Colleges to Work For Survey

The Chronicle of Higher Education is presenting a significant program, Great Colleges to Work For, a study designed to recognize institutions that have built great workplaces.

Once again Towson University is participating in this comprehensive evaluation. To be recognized by higher education?s most visible and widely read publication would bring well-deserved praise to everyone in the Towson University community.

One segment of the program is an employee survey distributed to a random sample of each participating institution’s full-time faculty and staff . The anonymous employee survey has been distributed to a random selection of 600 of our employees via email along with brief instructions for the online survey. If you have received the invitation, please take a moment to complete the survey by April 16th as you will be representing not only yourself, but all of your colleagues.

The results of the survey will be factored into the overall scoring process that will ultimately determine which institutions will be recognized in the Chronicle’s annual publication.

After The Chronicle publishes the findings this summer, our institution will receive a report that summarizes responses to the survey questions. According to last year’s findings, two particular areas in which Towson, thrives are: “Career Development, Research, & Scholarship” and “Facilities and Security.” Areas where we narrowly missed the opportunity for recognition included “Participation in Share Governance”, despite our strong TUSC and Faculty Senate groups, and “Internal Communications” for which the President’s recent Town Hall on the State Budget, Daily Digest, and Insider could be considered.

This is an anonymous survey that measures the strength of certain organizational competencies and relationships that most directly impact and influence an institution?s culture. Your participation and honest feedback are critical to the assessment process. To ensure the confidentiality of your responses, your survey will be processed by ModernThink, LLC, a research and consulting firm focusing on workplace excellence. Our institution will not be given any information that would enable us to trace survey data back to any one individual.

We encourage everyone?s participation! A high response rate helps ensure accurate results and demonstrates the commitment of our workforce.

Thank you for your participation. Please contact Marina Cooper at 410-704-3300 or {mcooper@towson.edu} if you have any questions.
