Norwalk Virus Infection

Outbreaks of the Norwalk virus infection have been reported by several local hospital emergency departments. The illness is self-limited, usually lasting two-three days, but can cause rather severe symptoms of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, which can result in significant dehydration. The Dowell Health Center is seeing increasing numbers of students with these symptoms, and a number of students have been ill enough to require IV fluids. Please be aware of this in case of class absences.
