It’s time to sign up for the spring semester campus Pawprints Collegiate Readership Program. Each semester TU faculty members integrate the New York Times, USA Today and the Baltimore Sun into classroom curricula. Copies of all three newspapers are available for FREE to students, faculty and staff at 9 locations across campus, Monday through Friday during fall and spring semesters. Professors can choose to incorporate the newspapers into courses however they see fit.
Faculty who specifically include the NY Times in their course syllabus receive FREE home delivery of the New York Times Monday through Friday during the spring semester.
Promoting Civic Engagement is a university priority that is captured in the Towson University 2016 plan. Pawprints, the campus newspaper readership program, promotes civically engaged students at Towson as it:
? Encourages critical thinking
? Promotes global awareness
? Cultivates social responsibility
? Brings relevancy into the classroom
? Fosters serendipitous learning
Integration of newspapers into course curricula allows for discussion and reflection on topics that have direct impact on the lives of students today- from social issues and new technology to the global economy and career opportunities.
Access to all three newspapers online as well as additional faculty resources can be found at: {http://www.towson.edu/studentaffairs/civicengagement/New%20York%20Times.asp}
Faculty members planning to use the Pawprints Collegiate Readership Program in spring semester courses should send the following information to the department of Civic Engagement:
1. course name(s) and number(s)
2. number of students in the class(es)

IF you want free delivery of the NY Times to your home address, Monday through Friday during the academic semesters, please also send:

We ask for informational items 1-3 from ALL participating faculty to gauge the usefulness of this program on campus and to make sure we have an adequate number of newspapers delivered to campus each day. The information asked for above should be sent to James David at {jdavid13@students.towson.edu} as soon as possible.
