The Honors College is seeking applications for 2 Faculty Fellow positions. Faculty fellows will have workload assignments which include teaching, mentoring of students, and pursuit of scholarship during the 3-year term as an Honors College Fellow, and become an integral part of the Honors College experience. The Honors College will provide office space and support for faculty fellows during their appointment.
Faculty Fellows will be expected to teach 5 classes per year, preferably courses in the Honors College. In addition, the fellows? duties will include becoming a first year experience advisor for Honors students, participating in recruiting activities, organizing and participating in student-faculty social and cultural events, and assisting with other Honors College activities as needed. Fellows are expected to maintain their current research agenda, and are encouraged to involve Honors students when possible. To support the transition and preparation for these new duties over the summer 2005, the selected faculty fellows will receive a stipend equivalent to teaching a summer course.
Full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty who have been at Towson University for at least 3 years are eligible to apply. Applications from all disciplines are encouraged; however there will be a preference for faculty willing and able to contribute in more than one of the following teaching areas:
Writing courses;
Courses that involve service learning or off-campus experiences;
Interdisciplinary seminars for upper-level students;
Ability to teach one or more current lower-level honors courses.
In addition, ideal candidates will have successful advising experience, possess a cooperative, collegial attitude, and be committed to the continued growth of a vibrant, on-campus, intellectual community.
