New Dean of the College of Business and Economics

I take great pleasure in announcing the results of the dean?s search in the College of Business and Economics. The Search Committee, under the leadership of Dean Gerald Intemann of the FCSM, reviewed the credentials of a total of 41 applicants, of which six were pursued further for references. Three finalists were interviewed during campus visits. I met with the committee on 13 March, and that meeting was very productive in discussing the strengths of all three finalists. After several conversations with President Caret, he and I agreed to offer the position to Dr. Shohreh Kaynama, and she has accepted.

As you know, Dr. Kaynama has served as dean of CBE on a 3-year appointment beginning in January 2003 after a year as Interim Dean. She is an alumna of Towson, completing a B.S. in Marketing in 1976. She received her MBA from the University of Baltimore in 1978, and the Ph.D. in Marketing from The George Washington University in 1991. She joined Towson?s Department of Marketing, initially as an instructor, in 1984, and she progressed through the faculty ranks and was awarded Full Professor of Marketing and e-Business in 2000. Her research focuses on organizational change and contextual marketing, and she has a consistent record of peer reviewed journal publications as well as numerous presentations at professional meetings and to general audiences.

President Caret joins me and the academic leadership of the university in congratulating Dr. Kaynama on her selection, and I hope all of you will have the opportunity to do so as well.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the search committee for their hard work in bringing this process to such a successful conclusion.
