Carol Norton, a professor in the Department of Mass Communication and Communications Studies at Towson University, will be the ?Fidelity Investments Guest Coach? when the Tigers square off with No. 1-ranked James Madison this Saturday at 1p.m. at Unitas Stadium. It will mark the final home football game for 11 Tiger seniors, including the record-setting passing combination of receiver Marcus Lee and quarterback Sean Schaefer.
In a new partnership with Fidelity Investments, the Tigers have honored a faculty or staff member at each of six home games during the 2008 football season. Norton and a guest will be hosted by Tiger Athletics and receive VIP treatment all day. Included in the activities are a guided tour of the academic services and athletics facilities, tickets to the exclusive Minnegan Pre-Game Club, a live interview on the Towson Football pre-game radio show on WNST 1570 AM, a sideline pass to catch some of the action from the field and a feature piece on the new high-definition TigerVision video board.
One of the most popular professors on campus, Norton was nominated to be the Fidelity Investments Guest Coach by Tiger student-athletes.
Norton was a double major as an undergrad at Towson, receiving a dual degree in Mass Communication and Speech Communication. As a Towson student, she competed in both individual speaking and debating on the forensics team. She went on to earn her Master of Arts from Ohio University in the School of Interpersonal Communication with a concentration in Organizational Communication.
She began her teaching career at Towson in 1989. After several years as an instructor, she took four years off to concentrate on her own marketing and community relations career. Norton returned to Towson in 1999 and has continued teaching Communication Studies part-time for the last decade. Her favorite topic to teach is Public Speaking. ?Public Speaking is a good bit like athletics,? Norton remarks. ?Dedication, discipline and a can-do attitude bring a better result every time!?
The new corporate partnership with Fidelity Investments centers on Tiger Athletics? outreach to faculty and staff at the university. It includes the Fidelity Guest Coach program, hospitality events for new employees, game day sponsorships and a designated seating section at home games for TU faculty and staff. In addition, Fidelity is a charter member on the TigerVision video board project in Unitas Stadium.
Fidelity Investments? local branch is conveniently located on the circle in downtown Towson. Towson University Faculty & Staff are encouraged to stop by the Fidelity Investor Center in Towson for free insight from one of the investment representatives, and develop strategies to help you reach your short- and long-term goals.
