Emergency Preparedness/Active Shooter Training (Recommended compliance course for all faculty and staff)
Emergency Preparedness – Everyday there is the possibility that a natural disaster, man?made disaster or criminal/terrorist act could disrupt our lives. This training has been developed to promote emergency preparedness awareness throughout the university community. The session will cover the types of disasters that may affect our community and how to respond to them. Developing personal emergency preparedness plans and emergency supply kits will also be discussed. Active Shooter – In recent years there have been many campus and work related Active Shooter incidents. The objective of this training is to raise awareness and provide information on how you should respond to an Active Shooter incident. Effective Followership [formerly The Courageous Follower] (Elective for the Workplace Professional Certificate, Management & Supervision Certificate, and Leadership Certificate)
Organizations today are in need of followers who are willing to take initiative, seek and encourage honest feedback, or raise issues and concerns when necessary. Effective followers are proactive and have the courage to initiate change and not shy away from conflict. This workshop focuses on follower types, how to become an effective follower, and determinants of follower influence. You will learn about how effective you are as a follower, how to become more influential in your current position, and how to develop your own followers by delegating responsibility and authority to serve the best interest of your organization. If you answered yes to any of these questions, it’s a good time to learn to be an assertive business professional. This course will guide you as you move into a proactive, responsible, professional style. You’ll learn methods to help you identify an appropriate assertive style and strategies to prepare you use that style. You’ll also learn how to implement the assertive style in your work environment. With the assistance of this course, you’ll no longer worry about being “too passive” or “too aggressive.”

2) To view a course description, click on the course name.

Registering for a Workshop
1) Click on the Course Registration link on the left side of the page or the link within the online schedule posted after each month of workshops listed.
2) Complete the form with your Towson email address. If you have a question related to the classes, please write it in the Comments/Questions box.
3) Click Submit. You will receive an email from hrtraining@towson.edu confirming your selection(s) within a few days.
