Coaching and Counseling for Improved Performance for Supervisors/Managers (Elective Course for the Management & Supervision Certificate)
Effectively supervising others requires you to coach and counsel your employees. This workshop will differentiate between coaching and counseling; define the supervisor’s role in each; review necessary communication skills to be an effective coach and counselor; discuss effective techniques for monitoring performance and giving meaningful feedback; and review how to hold counseling sessions that are straightforward, fair, and consistent. College campuses across the United States are beginning to see an increase in the enrollment of students who identify as gender variant and/or transgender. We have learned much in recent years about the unique challenges facing transgender students and how we, as educators, can better support their personal, social, academic and professional success. This workshop will explore the topic of gender variance, explore some of the unique challenges facing transgender and gender variant students and prepare faculty and staff with the information needed to create a more inclusive classroom and campus climate.
