Date: January 19, 2012
Location: Towson University
Please join members of the Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum and invited guests at the January 19, 2012 meeting!
?As a result of the success of the initial deployments of the first wave of Cloud Computing services, a growing number of CIO’s are not asking for a definition of the ?Cloud? or why they should consider Cloud alternatives. Instead, they are seeking specific help and advice regarding where, when and how to most effectively deploy the Cloud-based solutions to meet their immediate needs and long-term corporate objectives. They are also interested in using these Cloud solutions to change the way their organizations do business so they can gain a competitive advantage and better serve their customers, employees and partners. ?(Kaplan, 2011)
In this meeting the Forum will discuss advancement into the hybrid cloud world from three perspectives: that of a key industry analyst, that of a leading vendor providing primary architecture of the cloud era, and that of a current cloud implementer. To begin, Jeff Kaplan, Managing Director, ThinkStrategies, Inc. will look at new strategies and tactics for fully capitalizing on today?s cloud alternatives. He will review the state of the Cloud marketplace, discuss industry best practices, and identify some exciting ways companies are leveraging new Cloud solutions to address common challenges.
Following Mr. Kaplan, Neela Jacques, Director, Cloud Infrastructure Suite, VMware will guide the meeting participants through an in-depth look at VMware?s Cloud Infrastructure and Management Suite. Mr. Jacques will discuss VMware?s approach in IaaS Trusted Private Cloud. Many CIOs, IT managers and IT administrators are in the process of evolving their data centers and adopting this technology that is re-inventing the model for IT infrastructure. This session will discuss how several IT organizations are building on their VMware infrastructure and adopting private cloud computing, and will show how private clouds can address a wide range of technology and business challenges that span industries.
In the final portion of the program, Tim Talbot, Vice President, Information Technology, Merkle, Inc. will provide a high-level look into how Merkle is currently leveraging the Cloud as well as Merkle?s plans to leverage the Hybrid Cloud both internally and externally. Merkle is the nation’s largest and fastest-growing customer relationship marketing (CRM) agency.
