Cyndi Zimmerman, First TU Board of Regents Staff Award Winner

Did you know that Cyndi Zimmerman, Executive Administrative Assistant in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, was the first Towson University staff member to be awarded a Board of Regents Staff Award  in the category of Exceptional contribution to the institution and/or unit to which the person belongs?  She received this award in 2006.

Cyndi has worked at Towson University for forty years and thirty-four of those years have been in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.  Cyndi was recognized for going above and beyond the call of duty not only in performing her regular tasks, but how she provided exceptional assistance to students, faculty, and staff across the University. She is very effective in helping students and their families when dealing with personal difficulties.  Some of these situations can be very difficult for the students and their families, but Cyndi handled them with great care, compassion, and efficiency.

Cyndi was also the chair of TUSC (Towson University Staff Council) for two years and under her leadership, TUSC was successful in instituting a ten percent discount for all staff and faculty at Towson University’s University Store.  As TUSC Chair, she organized the first day-long “Bring Your Child to Work” program and she was instrumental in developing the yearly staff training event known as Staff Development Day.  TUSC members gave her the Outstanding Leadership Award for all of the accomplishments she made while on TUSC.
