Highlights of key changes
FMLA – The revised policy clarifies how compensation works during FMLA leave and incorporates military exigency and covered service member leave. Spouses employed by the same unit can now take simultaneous leave for birth or adoption of a child. Previously a request for simultaneous leave could be denied based on institutional hardship.
Parental Leave – The updated policy explains that parental leave runs concurrent with FMLA (if otherwise eligible) and now includes adoption of children over the age of six.
