Effective January 1, 2018, the State of Maryland Employee Benefits Division will implement the following benefits eligibility changes.
- New Hires – benefits coverage is effective the first of the month following the date of hire. A faculty/staff member hired on the first of the month will have benefits coverage on the date of hire. The new faculty/staff member must enroll in benefits within 60 days of hire and will pay for coverage as of the effective date.
- Life Status Changes (except birth/adoption) – benefits coverage is effective the first of the month following the event date. The faculty/staff member must request the change within 60 days of the event and will pay for coverage as of the effective date.
- Separation – coverage ends the last day of the month in which the faculty/staff member separates service.
