The Towson University license for SPSS version 23 will expire on July 31, 2017. SPSS 23 will no longer function after the license expires. All university SPSS users will need to upgrade to version 25 in computer labs, smart classrooms, and on office computers. IBM has not provided an exact release date for version 25, but software is expected to be available in late May. Watch for an upcoming T3 announcement with confirmed dates. No action is required at this time.
SPSS on Virtual Workspace
The SPSS version on Virtual Workspace will be upgraded to SPSS 25 on Thursday, May 25. Generally, the Virtual Workspace two-year cycle is followed.
How to upgrade to SPSS version 25
- Office Computers: The version 25 update software will be available in late May, and you will need to complete the upgrade prior to July 31. For details on SPSS, including installation instructions, see the Office of Technology Services’ (OTS) SPSS & SAS Statistical Software webpage.
- Classrooms and Computer Labs: colleges and departments must plan for SPSS deployments for their classrooms and labs prior to July 31. If labs are being reimaged over the summer, SPSS version 25 should be used. Lab managers will receive a CTC announcement as soon as the upgrade software is available for labs. If Windows labs are not being reimaged, but need the new software, lab managers can request to schedule a deployment to their labs by submitting a TechHelp service request to OTS. Managers of Mac computer labs can upgrade their labs by using Jamf software.
