Margherita Pampinella, Associate Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages, will present her sabbatical talk on Wednesday, April 5, at 4:00pm in the College of Liberal Arts building room 4204. Her talk is entitled “Deciphering the Land: An Illustrated Cabreo from Tivoli, Italy (1661-1808).” The cabreo of the Congregation of the Gentlemen of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Tivoli, an inventory of the congregation’s endowments featuring detailed maps, and an intricate layer of updates to record changes to the estate resulting from acquisitions, sales, and leases of the land, proves invaluable in documenting the evolution of landscape, economy, cartography, and social life in Tivoli throughout the centuries.
