The University System of Maryland (USM) offers term life insurance and long-term disability insurance through UNUM. UNUM has extended a special open enrollment period to USM employees, which runs from February 1 – March 1. During this time employees can enroll in term life insurance (up to the guaranteed issue amounts) and long-term disability insurance without answering a medical questionnaire.
Employees who are currently enrolled in the plan(s) will receive a mailing at their home address. Employees who are not currently enrolled will receive direct emails from UNUM during the open enrollment campaign. These emails are legitimate and approved by the USM.
