Arts Ecosystems: Navigating For-profit, Non-profit, and DIY Arts Business Models
This talk explores Arts Ecosystems and the complex connections between for-profit, non-profit, and DIY arts business models. This is something many artists navigate intuitively – or out of necessity – but is often not discussed strategically in professional arts education and training. Understanding Arts Ecosystems is essential in building an artistic practice and understanding the difference between replicating existing business models vs innovating new arts business models.

Yoga in a Circle
Normally, yoga occurs facing a mirror and a teacher, or even a blank wall. Taking a modified version of a sun salutation, I have developed an entire system of warmup dedicated specifically for actor training. By turning the learners into each other, this 10-minute warm-up offers the “known” pieces of yoga: breath and movement, but also considers conditions including sound, meditation and other aspects of the actor’s own vocabulary. Creating a prepared community this way can fit into many types of courses, particularly studio courses, in any discipline.
