Jameta Barlow (Department of Women’s & Gender Studies) was one of twelve participants in this summer’s Pardee RAND Graduate School’s Faculty Leaders Program in Policy Research and Analysis (formerly the Summer Faculty Workshop) in Santa Monica, California. Through this program, the Graduate School offered an intensive introduction to policy analysis, RAND, and Pardee RAND to 12 faculty members from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), Hispanic-serving institutions (HSIs), and other universities serving highly diverse student bodies.
Jane Neapolitan (Office of Academic Innovation) gave several presentations at Georgia State University, July 13-14, 2016. She gave the keynote address, “Professional Development Schools—Then and Now” at the inaugural meeting of the South Eastern Regional Professional Development Schools Association. She also conducted a break out session at the CREST-Ed Summer Institute 2016 on “Keeping Good Teachers—Nature or Nurture?” in which she discussed a teacher retention project conducted by Towson University and Baltimore County Public Schools in 2009 that focused on the benefits of professional development school internships.
