The Office of Technology Services (OTS) will be updating email and security groups throughout the remainder of 2016. These “Active Directory” groups are used for:
- email distribution lists in Outlook
- providing access to Outlook resource calendars and maildrops
- granting file share access (like DeptShares/O Drives, CustomShares, SecureShares)
- permitting access to applications (like SharePoint)
As part of this project, OTS will review every group, update group names and identify individuals who would be appropriate group sponsors. Email messages will be sent to these potential sponsors as groups are updated, requesting that they review the proposed updates to the groups and provide feedback. Additional information about using a convenient new online tool to add and remove individuals from these groups will be included in the email to each sponsor.
Current group sponsors can manage their groups by visiting the NetID Tools Web page, then clicking the “Manage Sponsored Group Membership” link under the Faculty/Staff heading.
