In the spirit of the summer Olympics in Rio, the Management Department’s assistant professor Mariana Lebron, who was a torchbearer for the 2002 Olympic Games, brought the torch she carried to share with patients at Mt. Washington Pediatrics Hospital earlier this month. Ray Monczewski (University Store) completed the What Every Manager/Supervisor Should Know Certificate, one of the noncredit certificates offered by the Office of Human Resources. This online certificate will help you understand your role as a manager or supervisor, be able to meet expectations that your boss and direct reports have for you, and learn how to establish credibility and manage former colleagues effectively.  Jamie Uppercue (Financial Services) completed the Financial Knowledge Certificate, one of the noncredit certificates offered by the Office of Human Resources. Babu G. Baradwaj, Yingying Shao and Michaël Dewally (finance)  had a paper titled “Institutions, capital control, and liquidity creation” recently published in the Journal of Financial Economic Policy.

Michael Dewally, Susan Flaherty (both finance) and Stella Tomasi (e-business and technology management) recently had a paper accepted in Managerial Finance titled, “The impact of social norms on female corporate board membership inclusion.”

Melissa Groves and Tamara Woroby (both Department of Economics) had an article, The Naturalization of U.S. Immigrants: Why  Citizenship Rates Differ by State, published in the Review of Social Sciences.
