FY2017 merit letters were sent with an effective date of July 1, 2016. This date represents the start of the fiscal year when funds were made available. For 10-month faculty, the employment contract spanned August 2015 – May 2016. While payment extends over the summer, it’s for work previously completed. As such, there is not an active contract to apply merit to in July. Merit increases for 10-month faculty are effective on August 17, 2016, coinciding with the start of the contract year.
