Electronic I 9 Process for New Employees Begins

On May 31, 2016, the Office of Human Resources will transition the university from using the paper Employment Eligibility Verification Form (Form I-9) to an electronic version of the Form I-9 accompanied by E-Verify. This process is being automated, in collaboration with HireRight, to ensure compliance.

New employees are not permitted to begin working without prior authorization from the OHR, and Section 1 of the Form I-9 must be completed on or before the first day of work. Failure to complete the Form I-9 in the required timeframe may result in separation, which could have significant impact to pay, benefits, and immigration status.

Faculty and staff will receive an email invitation from HireRight to complete Section 1 of the Form I-9. Presentation of physical documentation to OHR staff will be required to complete Section 2.
