Resources and Launch Date for the New TU Website

The new Towson University website will be going live on January 21, 2016. The new www.towson.edu will be mobile-friendly, accessible and visually appealing. Thanks to months of planning and campus collaboration, the page structure and navigation has been completely reimagined to provide easier ways to get to information.

What to expect

Along with this more efficient and relevant site restructuring comes the possibility of broken links. The Web team is asking the campus to be prepared for this. Links can include bookmarks, 3rd party resources and documents that link to the current website. Redirects to popular TU pages were submitted pre-launch by content owners in an effort to lessen broken links in the new site.

To report a broken link or provide feedback

When the new site launches, there will be a temporary link in our global navigation titled, BETA. This link will allow users to report problems or tell us how they feel about the new site. Starting on 1/21, to report problems, complete a website feedback form or click on the “Beta Site Feedback” link on the TU homepage to access and complete the online form.

To find pages in the new website

Popular TU content areas can be found in the Common URLs document which also provides the new website URL equivalent. If you still need assistance in finding resources or pages, please contact Ashley Arnold at arnold@towson.edu.

Using search engines to find information on the new site

When the new website launches it will take at least one business day for the TU search engine within the site to fully re-index, and it may take public search engines days or weeks to fully re-index the TU website. Some faculty and many students choose to find information on our website by using the public Google search through the www.google.com website or through the navigation bar in browsers. For the next few weeks, using the search field on the TU website will be significantly more accurate than using public search engine websites.
